Heavy rains and strong storms left a trail of destruction in areas around Mbome, Lieusex, St Joseph’s and Nyongolo in Matobo district on Sunday afternoon.
Villagers from the areas claim that the storm was the most destructive in 50 years in the area.
Houses, schools, stores, clinics had their roofs blown away by the storm.
“Very pathetic was an incident at St Joseph’s Hospital where one mother in labour was caught when she was about to bring new life to the community.”
“I lack words to put it across, maybe only God knows why all this tragedy happened,” said one eyewitness.
“This will sound superstitious, but the storm, according to those who witnessed it say, the storm started right from river Simukwe with an explosive sound, it moved across north in a belt-like dark clouds, and at some instances the clouds come to a standstill making a rapid winding curls with a strange sound likened to noises of hippos.
“Onlookers, as is always women say they saw a very huge snake just above these clouds.
” The snake had a beautiful face of a queen and rest lower half was of a dolphin.
“One old man warned screaming ,hey hey, injuzi, injuzi, a marmeid, run for yr lifes, the related.
“As l talk now, l can see some elderly men and women move around trying to find whats on place because there are high chances that this supernatural creature could have landed onto one of the dams here. “Surely if this is anything to go by, then end times are at our door step..
