Farmers from Mashonaland West province have hailed the Grain Marketing Board for promptly paying farmers who are bringing their produces to the Grain Marketing Boards depots, Business Weekly reports. The GMB is reportedly paying farmers in that region 48 hours after they have brought their grains to the depots. Additionally GMB is giving farmers a 30% bonus for bringing their grains early.
The publication spoke to one farmer who brought 25 tonnes to the GMB and they said:
Meanwhile, GMB reviewed grains producer price and farmers will get:
- $12 329.73 RTGS per tonne for maize,
- $13 865.79 RTGS for traditional grains
- $17 211.74 per tonne for soya beans.
